The Endless Plains
South of the Mara the plains simply keep going - Serengeti means "endless plains" in the Maasai tongue, and no place on Earth carries more wildlife. Tanzania is the other half of the great East African safari story, and we curate it with the same private, personal care as our Kenyan journeys.
The Ngorongoro Crater - a collapsed volcano turned natural amphitheatre - holds one of the densest concentrations of wildlife anywhere, including some of Africa's last free-roaming black rhino. Tarangire's baobab-studded valleys shelter Tanzania's greatest elephant herds. And the Serengeti hosts the Migration for most of the year - river crossings in the north, calving season in the southern short-grass plains.
Above it all stands Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. Our trekking crews lead the Marangu and Machame routes to the summit at 5,895 metres - a sunrise at Uhuru Peak pairs unforgettably with a safari on the plains below.
